Award for the HERMES SoftLab summer computer school project

Nova Gorica, October 5th 2007 – Yesterday evening HERMES SoftLab company received the second award for best HRM project of the year. The award is given out by the Planet GV company as part of the 10th Human Resource Management conference. HERMES SoftLab was presented with the award for the HERMES SoftLab summer school project: 3 in 1, which took place at six locations in the Adriatic region this year.

The Best HRM project of the year award was first given in 2003. Its main purpose is to present good HRM practices as an incentive to stimulate the introduction of new projects in the field of human resources management in Slovene companies, namely to improve personnel management practices.

The concept of a summer school has been present at HERMES SoftLab since 1991 and has always been a successful nursery for successful experts. Its planners found themselves with a new challenge in 2005. How could they add a new dimension to the school in order to become more than just a learning project for students. The result is a successful project which covers three key dimensions linking the personnel development function and strengthening of our brand name. The project emphasizes the education of new project managers and establishment of an infrastructure of mentorship and social responsibility in the sense of raising the levels of knowledge in the entire Adriatic region in the field of IT.

Gregor Smrekar, board member and operations manager, HERMES SoftLab: “The award is a great recognition for all the generations of teams working on our summer schools from their earliest inception, as such a large project demands time to mature. HERMES SoftLab expanded into other countries of the Adriatic region and brought good practices of education of secondary school and faculty students in the field of IT, which saw a great positive response in their first year, which proves we are developing in the right direction.”

At the conference the company also presented the challenges of intertwining HRM and marketing functions at HERMES SoftLab.
