Our growing company, Comtrade System Integration, is seeking a Junior AI/ML Engineer to join our team in Belgrade, Serbia.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a motivated Junior AI/ML Engineer to join our growing AI & Data team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about artificial intelligence, machine learning, and large-scale system development. You will work alongside experienced engineers, data scientists, and architects on real-world projects across industries such as insurance, energy, telecom, retail, and the public sector.

This position is ideal for someone at the start of their career who wants to grow quickly into a mid or senior-level AI/ML Engineer. You will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools, best practices, and enterprise-grade projects, with plenty of opportunities for mentorship and professional development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, and maintain AI/ML applications primarily on Azure Cloud (Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI), while staying flexible with other platforms and tools.
• Develop and expose secure, well-structured applications and APIs with authentication, authorization, and error handling with various integrations
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code (primarily in Python, optionally in C#) following clean architecture principles.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, data scientists, business analysts) to deliver end-to-end AI solutions.
• Support in data analysis, testing, deployment, and monitoring of AI systems to ensure performance, accuracy, and reliability.
• Stay up to date with AI/ML trends and frameworks, and share relevant insights with colleagues.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Basic experience or strong academic background in AI/ML integrations, data science, or machine learning models, ideally with exposure to cloud platforms.
• Solid foundation in Python programming, including object-oriented principles and clean architecture. Knowledge of C# is a plus.
• Familiarity with databases (relational, non-relational, and ideally vector databases for semantic search and embeddings).
• Familiarity with modern AI/LLM tools and frameworks (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain, RAG patterns).
• Understanding of client–server architecture and ability to contribute to scalable applications.
• Nice to have: familiarity with Azure services (OpenAI, AI Search, Function Apps, Storage, etc.) and willingness to learn other cloud platforms.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, with guidance, in a dynamic project environment.
