Database for Legal Practitioners Project Presented

For the needs of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, Spinnaker New Technologies, member of the ComTrade Group, has developed the “Database for Legal Practitioners” for the Serbian judiciary, aiming at boosting their efficiency and consistency of the courts practice, by a quick access to laws and regulations. The “Database for Legal Practitioners Project” is the first official governmental database of laws and regulations and represents one of the crucial components of the broader reform of the judiciary and modernization of the courts.The project was realized by a Consortium consisting of Spinnaker New Technologies, member of ComTrade Group, and Comarch, S.A, from Poland.The project commenced in December 2004 and was finished with the official handover on September 6, 2006 in the Government of Serbia, when the Head of the European Agency for Reconstruction, Daniel Giuglaris, delivered the CD with the “Database for Legal Practitioners” to Justice Minister Zoran Stojkovic. The project was funded by the European Union and managed by the European Agency for Reconstruction. The Head of the Delegation of the European Commission in Serbia, Josep M. Lloveras, stressed that an efficient judiciary is very important for foreign investors and one of the key elements in the process of Serbias accession to the European Union. The project was conducted by a team of leading legal experts of the EU and Serbia, as well as an IT team of Spinnaker New Technologies. The application has been developed on Microsoft platform and consists of Publisher and Reader components (in Windows and web versions). The experience acquired on this project is also implemented by Spinnaker on a related project, the “Database for Legal Practitioners Project”, for the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Macedonia.
